IAF chopper crash: CDS Gen Rawat, wife's ashes immersed in Ganga; 5 other officers cremated
The ashes of Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Bipin Rawat and his wife Madhulika were immersed in the Ganga in Haridwar on Saturday. The general's daughters - Kritika and Tarini, collected their parents' ashes from Brar Square crematorium in Delhi Cantonment and reached Haridwar to immerse them in the Ganges.
While, some of the mortal remains will be immersed by family members and friends in five different river confluences in Uttarakhand - known as ‘Panch Prayags’ - in the next few days. The daughters had performed their parents' last rites on Friday.
General Bipin Rawat was cremated side by side on the same pyre with his wife Madhulika Rawat with full military honours at Brar Square crematorium in Delhi Cantonment on Friday (December 10). They were among the 13 people killed in a helicopter crash near Tamil Nadu's Coonoor on December 8.
